At the beginning of the 2025 F1 season, Sir Lewis Hamilton will be setting his sights on winning a championship with Ferrari. After a shocking move to Ferrari it almost left people in disbelief as it came out of the blue with the news breaking yesterday.

Sir Lewis Hamilton will have his good friend Charles Leclerc as his long list of partners in crime. With many of fans wondering what will happen with mercedes and George Russel. As the season begins at the start of March that only leaves a couple of weeks for mercedes to get a replacement for next year. Toto Wolff, Team Principal & CEO, said “Lewis will always be an important part of Mercedes motorsport history. However, we knew our partnership would come to a natural end at some point, and that day has now come”.

After a very long and successful 11 years working with mercedes Hamilton will now join a long list of fantastic Ferrari drivers alongside the likes of Schumacher, Juan Manuel Fangio. Not to mention Vettel and Alonso even though they didn’t win any championships at there time with Ferrari.

Controversial crash allows Russell to win first race of the season

This weekend’s race was jam-packed with controversial decisions that went right down to the wire.

The unlikely winner George Russell wins the race in Austria after the controversial car crash between Verstappen and Norris. From the top three who started the race, there was only one winner who finished in 1st place on the podium as Russell was the person to take advantage of the other’s misfortunes to earn Mercedes valuable points.

Both Formula 1 teams will feel like they can put a case forward for who might be in the wrong but ultimately miss out on that top spot. Red Bull felt like Norris pushed Verstappen off the track as there was slight contact between both cars. In terms of consistency purposes, there was a race in 2019 where Verstappen did the same move to Leclerc and received nothing for his actions. This battle between Verstappen and Norris didn’t disappoint as it had every Formula 1 fan on the edge of their seat waiting to see the outcome.

From a McLaren perspective, Norris put together an impressive effort to chase down Verstappen who was ahead of him. Norris had plenty of fantastic chances to overtake Verstappen but was unfortunate that his tire burst just before he had any real opportunity to take the lead which led to Norris receiving a penalty for his actions.

That might be something to review for the upcoming race in Silverstone. Either way, both teams will feel disappointed to lose the race and miss out on valuable points that might edge the standings towards the end of the season.

It looked like another easy victory for Verstappen after a huge domination for most of the race until lap 64 where Norris caught Verstappen’s front wing meaning it pretty much discounted them out of the race as Russell quickly took his opportunity to overtake and win the race.

One piece of hope that McLaren can take out of the race would be how Oscar Piastri finished in 2nd place as he is looking more impressive every race helping claw back some much needed points lost by Norris if they want to catch up to Red Bull. The Red Bull and McLaren rivalry is heating up now especially after Norris won his first race and could be in contention to win a few more this season.
