Utopia Vs Dystopia Voxpops
Dystopia Voxpops
These vox pops were based on the angle of what the world looked like in 2123? We worked in groups of four to produce this content where we all took turns asking the vox pop questions and then being camera operators. As a group, we spent a few hours outside the Delia Derbyshire building after deciding it would be better to stay in one place. To begin with, we set up a Sony Z90 next to the cathedral and nobody would speak to us because it might have been slightly intimidating as they walked past us. We swapped our setup to just recording on our phone and managed to get fourteen vox pops in total.
Halloween Podcast
During one of our practical lesson’s we created a halloween podcast in groups of five where we spoke about all of our halloween plans, whether or not you are for or against halloween, favourite costume ideas and a ton more subjects. The podcast lasted around fifteen minutes in total you there is a lot to listen to and enjoy.
Basketball & Black Lives Matter Interview
Thanks to one of the sports coaches at Coventry university I was given the opportunity to sit down and interview these two guys called Courage and Caleb. They were ex Coventry university students and have gone on to do excellent things but the sole focus of this interview was about Basketball and Black Lives Matter. At the beginning there record a separate interview for sport coventry social media channels where I based my questions off some of the things they would mentation as I wasn’t properly prepared after rushing back from another interview I undertook that day.
I wanted to start off with a few lighter questions asking them who there basketball idols were growing up? which is a very generic question but it is always a good question to ask as there is so many basketball players to choose from. They spoke about Shaq and he was a good answer as he is a fans favourite for everybody and then they related it back to them playing similar positions. One of the more serious questions was what does basketball mean to you? and I feel like Courage described it perfectly because he mentioned how basketball allowed him to be himself by being loud and dominant as that is a sign of a true basketball leader. The question I wanted to finish up on was another light hearted one about what are your first thoughts of the Black lives Matter kit? because they were saying how much they loved it beforehand so I thought it would be a brilliant question to end the interview.
I believe that Coventry Flames the basketball team are having black icons come in to the university throughout the year who they are going to interview for there social media channels so there might be more interview opportunities in the future. Overall, I was so pleased with how this interview went because both guys were so engaging and you could truly see the connection between themselves and the subject there were speaking about which always makes for a better interview. I think in terms of my own interview performance it could have gone slight better as I strutted on some of my words which weren’t very clear but I just repeated the question one or two times. However, other than that I think I did a great job with little notice because I wasn’t planning on going but I was over the moon that I decided to go in the end.
Ian James Press Conference

I was involved in a press conference with Ian James who is the team principle for formula E’s McLaren team. I was working alongside four other journalism students where we all had to come together and create very interesting questions that could challenge Ian James to get him thinking. After the press conference had finished we had ten minutes to ask our questions where I was the one to ask the first question about trying to get some background information about Ian James and his career. After Ian James answered I struggled to ask a follow up question because I was ready to move onto my second question so that is something I might need to work on. I moved onto asking questions about the top three attributes when signing a racing driver? and if Sam Bird fits those attributes?

The Benchwarmers on BBC Sounds

A surreal moment to be involved in a BBC segment speaking all about my sports podcast, The Benchwarmers with Matthew Haldane.
When we first started the podcast three months ago I would never of thought we would get mentioned on the BBC it was such an honour.
A massive thank you to Matthew Haldane for being a great co-host who helps develop the episodes and upload them to Spotify and YouTube each week.
I can’t wait to continue the podcast on my second year of university because the future is looking bright.✅💫
Tom Grennan linking up with The Big Issue

Tom Grennan goes back to busking roots!
Tom Grennan’s grandma Ann shows the popstar around where she grew up as Coventry is his adopted home.

BY HARRISON PEARCE, FRI 27th SEPTEMBER, 1:00
Tom Grennan has teamed up with the Big Issue for a live busking performance at Fargo Village in Coventry. Tom was excited to bring his grandma to the gig; she even had front-row seats. Tom’s grandma even showed him around the area where she was brought up as it isn’t too far away from Coventry.
The Big Issue helps raise money for homeless people and Tom Grennan is a massive advocate of this as it is a subject close to his heart. “The big issue is one of the most important charities to me because it gives you a chance, opportunities, gives people jobs, and puts food on their table,” he said.
Tom started busking 12 years ago as one way of trying to get his face out there and become viral for his music. Even though the weather was awful that didn’t stop his fans from queuing up to hear Tom’s biggest hits. Tom was ecstatic from start to finish for the 30-minute event where he played his chart-topping hits such as A Little Bit of Love, Remind Me, and his new single Higher.
Jason Allen is a massive fan of Tom Grennan and performs his songs hoping to have a duo one day. Jason Allen has over 1 million followers on Instagram and was over the moon when Tom let him sing the Gillette advert song together. “I live in Telford, which is like one hour away, to show my support in the hope Tom notices my sign and brings me on stage to perform the Gillette advert” This is a massive success story for Jason Allen, as he has been trying to get the Indie popstars attention for several years, and it has finally paid off. Jason stated “I can’t believe it the song went way better than I expected”
The Big Issue will have raised a lot of money for charity after there was a great turnout, and with them, linking up with Tom Grennan will very much help to inspire other musicians to get involved in such a huge cause. Tom is a massive personality within the music industry who has been involved in charity work for a few years so Coventry will always have a place in his heart.

Interview with two uni football players after the game
This interview was very last minute after the team won 4-1, where I didn’t think of the best questions, but the two players were really generous with their time and gave insightful answers. This video recieved a warm reception from people in the university getting over 2,000 thousand views and 130 likes.

Newsday Week 10 – 15 minute Bulletin
This was my first time being a presenter this year, and it went alright in terms of having a clear voice. But, I need to improve upon slowing down when speaking because that’s where the problem started off. Once I stumble on one word, it throws the rest of the bulletin out the window because I am too hard on myself to the point of being annoyed at myself.
NEWS Week 11 – My News Bulletin
I felt slightly better doing this news bulletin because I didn’t have everybody in the room listening to what I was saying. But I keep on messing up pronouncing people’s names, which is one area of improvement.
Newsday Week 12 – 15 minute Bulletin
My sports section started 8 minutes and 30 seconds into the bulletin, where I felt way more confident during this week’s recording. I think this was down to all the other previous presenting sessions and knowing what I had to improve upon. I went into presenting quite late into the day, so I didn’t really have time to worry about public speaking in that sense. I read the script once or twice, and I was ready to go where I was pleased with the outcome.

England’s Statement Night at Wembley
On Saturday evening, England Women roared back onto the pitch at Wembley Stadium in style, dismantling China 8–0. in a commanding, friendly performance that will be remembered as one of the most dominant displays in recent memory.

Blitz Start and Early Control
England wasted little time asserting their dominance. Just 12 minutes in, Beth Mead opened the scoring with a calm finish after a clever overlapping run down the right flank. Two minutes later, she doubled the lead, adding a second goal thanks to a sharp combination play on the opposite wing.
When asked about the overall performance, Beth Mead said, “We made a lot of good things come together tonight, which made China look very average. That was a credit to us and what we put out on the pitch.”
After getting subbed off by Sarina Weigman at half-time, Mead joked by saying “ It wasn’t my favourite words that came out of her mouth, as I wanted to get my hat-trick.”
This shows the ruthlessness of the forward, but it was completely fair to provide minutes for other teammates.
Lauren Hemp made her first international appearance since the Euro 2025 triumph and she joined the party with a third goal. England scored three goals in the first 16 minutes.
Stanway Steals the Show
With England in full flow, it was Georgia Stanway who took centre stage. She scored the fourth goal with a powerful volley after the Chinese goalkeeper struggled to deal with a dangerous cross.
Not long after, Stanway converted a penalty awarded after a handball to make it 5–0. Eight minutes into the second half, she completed her hat-trick following a slick give-and-go with Ella Toone. Stanway became only the third England woman to score a hat-trick at Wembley.
Toone and Russo Add Final Flair
As the match progressed, England continued to carve through a shaky Chinese defence. Toone slotted home England’s seventh in the 71st minute after a defensive error, rounding off a creative attacking move. Seven minutes later, Alessia Russo latched onto a clever through-ball and calmly finished to make it 8–0.
Beyond the Scoreline – Significance of the Night
The win marked the 50th victory for head coach Sarina Wiegman in charge of the Lionesses a landmark achievement underscoring her success.
With a crowd of 74,611, the result also reflected rising support for women’s football in England, a sign of growing momentum ahead of future competitive fixtures.
While some key players were absent or returning from injury, the depth of the squad was clear: from midfield to attack, England’s cohesion and clinical finishing left little doubt about their quality.
What This Means Going Forward
This emphatic victory does more than just pad the goal difference it sends a message. England demonstrated they can combine speed, precision, and ruthless efficiency when given time and space. For China, the result is a wake-up call: defensively, they were exposed and overwhelmed, and will need to reassess before their next big challenge.
For the Lionesses, now riding on high confidence, the focus turns to sustaining this level of performance as they prepare for their next fixture against Ghana Women.
